Indian Popular Culture and Courtly Life: "Palace on Wheels": Marketing the Maharajas

Welcome to DTS403 - "The Diasporic Lives of Objects".  You'll find the syllabus and all the readings here, but I also wanted to give you a heads up that Stephen Inglis, curator of the Maharajah exhibit at the AGO will be giving a talk at the AGO on Jan 12 (info below and here's the link - http://www.ago.net/indian-popular-culture-and-courtly-life-stephen-inglis)

We're going to be focusing on the exhibit for one of our classes and I've been in touch with Stephen to see if he could meet with us. Unfortunately, he'll be out of the country but the curatorial assistant, Haema Sivanesan, who is also the Executive Director of the South Asian Visual Arts Centre, will help us out.  Given that we won't be able to meet with Stephen you might want to take in his talk.  There is a charge ($12) but it promises to be an interesting discussion.  The AGO usually puts on good talks.
